Jay I just did 2600 miles in my 84 with the timing set at 5 before no problem. the things I would be concerned with would be lean running and also to much RPM for the first couple thousand miles. so keep it under 70 and have the exhaust gases checked I also check the fuel pressure at Idle and at 2k with the vacuum hose disconnected to see if the pressure drops if it does the you need a pump or filter or regulator Bob
