Subject: '72 w/Waterboxer power (little/NVC)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

So, I have this 2.1l waterboxer longblock engine removed from my '87 Wolfsburg sitting in my garage. I checked compression: 130~140 after 113k miles, but the heads were leaking badly. I'm considering transplanting it into my '72 Campmobile ala Roadcow after I service or reseal the heads.

I recently saw someone had installed a 1.9l boxer engine into a baja bug, using dual 48IDA Weber carbs for increased HP, claiming mucho power. My '72 needs no smog :-) so the thought of ample power, decent heat, and [possibly] more reliability sounds interesting.

I know similar transplants have been done to air-cooled models, but this? Thoughts?

TIA, Mike
