No, the Apple architecture does not support the interaction of
applications in a manner that would allow all but the most complex of
viruses to do any damage. It is wrong to think that M$ software is
attacked simply because it is so widely used. That removes the onus of
culpability from M$, which is the wrong thing to make people believe.

The viruses that are appearing are because the architecture of their
operating system is so insecure that it is very easy to write a simple
script that can cause the OS to basically destroy itself.

Yes, popularity is a factor, but there is no way to write a self executing
virus that will work on a MAC, or Linux, or OS/2, or most other systems.
Using M$ software is an invitation to virus attacks, because it leaves the
front door, the back door, and even the roof, wide open to attack. If you
don't want to get viruses, use software that is written to prevent them
from working. If you don't want people walking into your living room, use
a decent lock.
