Fellow Vanagonites,
I know of a great site that hasn't gotten a lot of hype:
www.vwpartscentral.com
They can get just about all of the VW stuff you need, Vanagon or
non-Vanagon. The have competitive prices and good reliable service. I have
found their real strength to be their technical support.
VW Parts Central is an easy to use on-line ordering system (currently you
have to pay through PayPal, but they told me that they would be expanding
payment options very soon) that will save you a lot of time when compared to
phone ordering. When ordering on-line they also offer super-cheap overnight
shipping on most items. If you are just more comfortable ordering over the
phone they offer a toll-free 800 number. They have unbeatable tech support.
You can call their non-800 number with any technical inquiries. If they
don't know the answer they will tell you that, and then they will get the
answers for you. When buying from them, or planning your purchase, Jim (the
owner) wants to make sure you are buying the right parts and installing them
properly.
I haven't purchased any used parts from them, but I understand they do have
some used parts available (but not for Vanagons). If you want used, call and
ask about that. There are some neat links from their main site to some other
sites they have. They offer some cool looking performance products that they
have developed and the prices on that stuff looks really good.
Good Luck. I think ya'll will be as happy with them as I have been.
