Today I replaced my front door speakers on my 87 Westy--with Rockford Fosgate, 4' 2 ways---and the window crank hitting the speaker as you crank the window up or down syndrome struck--- The Rockford's are a little bit taller than the Blaupunkt's I have in my 85 GL, and the small washer spacer behind the handle wasn't going to work---- I discovered the absolute easiest resolve of all--- I took some 1/8th inch syn-flex air line ( the air line for the brakes on a Mack, or any other semi ) and simply cut off a 1/16th inch piece of the plastic line with a razor blade, and dropped it into the back side of the crank, around the screw----mounted the crank on the splined shaft, and ran down the screw----- This was enough to clear the speaker grills, with room to spare---- This was the easiest way I have resolved this common problem to date-----fast, simple, and it works---- Any truck parts department would most likely give you a short length of this stuff, because you won't need that much--ask them for an inch of it----that's all you'll need to get the job done--- Later ______________ |[ ] [ ] [ ]\ | | | | ~~~ ~||-(())----(())-| Terry-- "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
