You sure can. If it's a 3.2 it is likely to mush up your trans, but it's the only Porsche engine which will fit unaltered under the stock decklid.

The van itself certainly can handle the power, and the conversion (using a G50 Porsche trans, naturally) is very popular in Germany. Decent 16" or 17" alloy wheels with low-profile rubber and beefy front & rear swaybars, Koni dampers and away you go hunting BMWs etc on twisty German backroads.
