>This may seem silly, but can you put a porsche engine in a 89 vw syncro? or >will it mush everything up...doesn't seem like it was made to handle >that...hehe... just wondering...megh You sure can. If it's a 3.2 it is likely to mush up your trans, but it's the only Porsche engine which will fit unaltered under the stock decklid. The van itself certainly can handle the power, and the conversion (using a G50 Porsche trans, naturally) is very popular in Germany. Decent 16" or 17" alloy wheels with low-profile rubber and beefy front & rear swaybars, Koni dampers and away you go hunting BMWs etc on twisty German backroads. For a Syncro it should be possible to use a 4WD 911 trans and front diff. -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut |
