Impossible? I don't think so. I spent about three hours stripping out the entire engine cooling system from a donor 85 Waser Boxer. I was very pessimistic about this being a viable conversion until I had stripped these parts out in about three hours. I've got to go back and strip out the front blower / heater core and the rear blower /heater core cause I got rained out. This is definitely more difficult than a diesel to Subaru or Waser Boxer to Subaru but if you've got all the parts, I'd think it might add about twelve hours to your conversion labor. The parts weren't all that expensive and the removal went off without parts damages. The conversion will be taking place on an 81 Westy Air Cooled with an automatic transmission and adapter plates by Kennedy Engineering. This is not my vehicle and I'm not doing the conversion, I just traded labor and parts for Air Cooled salvage parts that will be up for discard once they are removed. So guys. If you're dead set on more horse power and you've got an Air Cooled 80-83 this conversion isn't impossible, just a little more work than on current water cooled vehicles.
