I have to admit... I too thought that this was a rather warped little
theatrical piece of Fryday type humor. I mean seriously.... the cast of
characters alone would give it away:
"Pinky" = The innocent, if not a tad naive new Vanagon owner and list member
heading to his detail shop
"Thor" = The understanding friend who pulls Pinky over 3 times for the exact
same reason
"Paco" = The friendly neighborhood VW dealer mechanic
I mean, at least makes the names all come from the same planet!
And for those of us who actually read bits and pieces of the Terry vs. Pinky
electric power sunroof saga a week ago (some odd 47 postings I believe) we
most likely are all a bit shell-shocked, and once one begins the sarcasm via
email.. it is truly impossible to determine if it has shifted into
seriousness, or is still lingering.
Anyway... that is NOT why I decided to add my 2 Euro cents worth here... I
personally was VERY GRATEFUL for your posting.... Pinky. I brought my
Vanagon with me when I moved from the USA to Austria (next to Germany.. not
next to New Zealand). The speed limit on the Austrian autobahn here is
posted at 130. I always felt so insignificant only being able to drive at
100-110 or so.. down hill. But then I found out why I was flying pst all
those BMW 525s and Audi TTs and Mercedeses in the passing lane.... It was
because I was driving in MPH, and all of them were driving in KMH!!!! I
just went out to my Vanagon and looked, and I actually have the KMH values
printed very small, right beneath my MPH values... crazy!
Now I will probably be able to get significantly more than 60 miles to the
tankful... this will save me a ton of cash!
RSF
PS. yes, I am being sarcastic....... all in good fun.... nobody gets hurt.
;-)
