<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>well, you definetely replaced a lot of head gaskets.&nbsp; my hats off to you.&nbsp; but maybe you wouldn't replace so many if you used the proper tstat.&nbsp; like i said, on my last engine i got 200k+ and NEVER needed a gasket job.&nbsp; i love the way the vw runs hotter.&nbsp; makes me feel cool.</P> <P>jason</P> <P>90gl<BR></P></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt;From: Ben huot <HUOTX@VIDEOTRON.CA> <DIV></DIV>&gt;To: VANAGON@GERRY.VANAGON.COM, "jason willenbrock Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ." <POONCERELLI@HOTMAIL.COM> <DIV></DIV>&gt;Subject: Re: Tempurature <DIV></DIV>&gt;Date: Wed, 8 May 2002 15:24:46 -0400 <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Jason wrote: <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt;i find it hard to believe that VW would create a part for these vans <DIV></DIV>&gt;that would actually make them hot to the point of drying out the head <DIV></DIV>&gt;gaskets&lt;&lt;&lt;&lt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Mmmmmmmmmm <DIV></DIV>&gt;VW as their share of error (horror!!) or mistake in the past, believe me. <DIV></DIV>&gt;Just so you know, I do part time mechanic, 1 or 2 cars per week or two. I <DIV></DIV>&gt;do clutch change for the racing one, axles, racing modification to the <DIV></DIV>&gt;suspension, and my speciality is head rebuilding (Gasket, ports, mating <DIV></DIV>&gt;head surface modification, valve, spring and so on) I only work on Honda <DIV></DIV>&gt;Civic &amp; CRX (I have 2 CRX my self), VW Golf and Mazda. The worse one of <DIV></DIV>&gt;those, for the same mileage are always the VW (car are mostly from 1987 to <DIV></DIV>&gt;1995), all seal and gasket on the VW are always finish to the bone, they <DIV></DIV>&gt;are always leaking from everywhere and mostly all O-ring are dried up, like <DIV></DIV>&gt;a rock. (Nothing like that on a Honda) All VW car run hotter than the other <DIV></DIV>&gt;one (tested!), this is a fact and not an opinion. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;The worse pitted head are again the VW!!! Sometime the VW head is not <DIV></DIV>&gt;recoverable. Most VW car is the Golf model. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;The Honda problem is crack head. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;I did about 10/12 VW Golf since 2 years. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;I have some other stuff for "bashing" VW product but I will stay there for <DIV></DIV>&gt;the moment. Don't get me wrong, I love the Westfalia, I said the Westfalia! <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;I just want to say that I think that VW in general as a lower resistance / <DIV></DIV>&gt;time related. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Just so you know! <DIV></DIV>&gt;Ben <DIV></DIV>&gt;http://www3.sympatico.ca/huotx/engine1.htm <DIV></DIV></div><br clear=all><hr>MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: <a href='http://g.msn.com/1HM105401/46'>Click Here</a><br></html>
