Weird wiring seems to come standard on VWs. I learned to drive in a 1978 Rabbit. With the ignition off, there was no power to the radio, but if you pulled on the high-beam lever the radio would come on.

While we're talking about the parking lights and hazards, I've noticed something a bit strange.

If I turn off my ignition, then my radio turns off. Seems normal. But if I turn on the hazards while the engine is off, the radio comes back on.

Anybody else experience this? Is this just a common van quirk?
