<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>Hey thanks so much for responding. I remember seeing this hex, and now I'm not afraid to open it. I do have the Bentley,&nbsp;and it was silent on this matter as were the archives, save a question from someone else that was never answered, until now. <BR></P></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt;From: "Birkenfeld Jeff" <BIRKENFELDJEFF@JOHNDEERE.COM> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Dude, you are looking for the large hex (16mm I think) headed bolt on side <DIV></DIV>&gt;of differential. There is no drain, only a pan. You should see 2 pans <DIV></DIV>&gt;under your drive train: 1 for the transmission and 1 for the differential. <DIV></DIV>&gt;The trans pan has a dipstick tube out the driver side bottom, the diff pan <DIV></DIV>&gt;does not. Fill tranny at the dipstick tube, fill diff on side after <DIV></DIV>&gt;removing large hex bolt. You can fill the diff with hypoid oil until it <DIV></DIV>&gt;runs out the side. To fill auto trans---when cold to dipstick bottom, drive <DIV></DIV>&gt;it about 7 miles then check and add to top level. Check again next day <DIV></DIV>&gt;after 7 mile drive. 7 miles=good warm up period. <DIV></DIV>&gt;Prolly need to get a repair manual or the Bentley. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Good luck, <DIV></DIV>&gt;JB <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt;Bentley, on page 39.50 says to use Hypoid oil SAE 90, Mil-L2105 B for the <DIV></DIV>&gt;Final drive lubricant and that the capacity is 1.25 liter (1.3 US qt) [were <DIV></DIV>&gt;talking differential-automatic]. <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV>But hey stupid me doesn't know were to fill it.... to top off the slow </DIV>&gt;leak I'm having. Before I start turning bolts I don't understand, can <DIV></DIV>&gt;somebody comment? There is NOTHING in the archives. I searched under Fill <DIV></DIV>&gt;Differential <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV></div><br clear=all><hr>MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: <a href='http://g.msn.com/1HM105401/46'>Click Here</a><br></html>
