The day after I bought my first Rabbit ('82 Rabbit L), I was in a parts
store picking up an oil filter and oil, and looking over the manuals
available for VW's.  The counter guy - who turned out to be a VW fan -
steered me to the Idiots Guide for Rabbits saying it was the best.  And he
wasn't wrong - it's the most smudged, dog-eared manual I have (after the
Vanagon Bentley manual).

Nowadays, you can't find 'em.  Muir dosen't publish them anymore and most
folks familier with VW's don't know it exists, for some strange reason.
Always wanted to make a tee-shirt of the 'exploded Rabbit' picture...

FWIW, I received the Summer 2002 copy of American Heritage of Invention
& Technology magazine yesterday.  In it, there's an absolutely
delightful article about the Idiot Book and it's effect on a generation.
IMHO well worth picking up a copy at your local bookstore.
