I replaced my accelerator cable for the same reason (sticky). At first the pedal with new cable was TOO easy to depress. I like the pedal to have some resistance for driving comfort. To remedy this I added a 2nd spring on the throttle body where the cable attaches. Now my right foot is happy :)
