It can be a bit of a nuisance -- about the same level as on a non-Westy I think, just different details. But you only do it twice a year generally...the lever is meant to be operated by a bowden wire -- would be pretty easy to rig one I think since the bracket is there. Just to the front of the box, not the front of the van. Of course then you have to deal with kicking the knob.
