There shouldn't be a problem using the A/C switch to operate the fan motor if the compressor clutch is disconnected, you are just using the relays in the back.

If your high side pressure gets over 220 psi, the 2nd level fan relay should kick in and the radiator fan should start running at a higher speed. For me lately, that happens if the outside temp is over 95F.

There shouldn't be an issue with adding additional freon to the system, but I would recommend getting it done properly.

Changing out the hoses to the barrier type isn't that hard, just time consuming. I had all four of mine remade for under $200.00. It took me 5-6 three hour evenings to change them out.

For those who have ac, Can anyone see why there would be a problem with pulling the electrical connection to the ac compressor at the pump and using the ac switch to turn the radiator fan on and off when there is a problem with the temp sensor on the radiator. Are there any other times when this backup could be used? Will this actual work? I have converted to r134. Is there any problem adding a can a year to the system to off set any loss since the hoses are the wrong kind for r134? I do not have a gauge to measure pressure. What are the symptoms when the high pressure side goes too high? thanks, gary
