'66-'67 Best of the splits.  12v electrics if '67, '66 easy to convert,
smoother ride than older ones.  Hard to find a good one you can afford.


'71 last of the bug-engined busses, first year for front disks -- cheaper to
repair, lots of them still around.


'78 last year for the 76-78 version of the 2000 cc engine.  Hydraulic valve
lifters.  '79 has some one-year only features -- heads for one.  Lots of
these still around.


'91 last of the Vanagons.  My Carat is nice and smooth with many "modern"
features: A/C, power locks/windows/mirrors.  Most expensive option.
