Bentley 97.141 shows the A/C circuit diagram for the 1987 digifant set-up.

And the wire to the idle stabilizer control box is near the bottom left of the page.... track 16, R/BL wire. What this actually DOES... I do not know.

Since I have recently removed all my A/C components (except the relay for 3rd stage radiator cooling fan) I notice my idle surging, but it really only is fluttering between around 850-950, at standing idle, and I can live with that. I do not like it, but I cannot remember if it was like this before the A/C and other parts were replaced (Vanagon has been a "project" for over a year now). Too many variables... I too replaced idle stabilizer valve, control box, AFM, and other toys to correct the strange surging and loss of power at high speeds... that is now fixed, thank god!!

Anyway, I would appreciate any other tips list members can provide on the critical electronics between A/C and ECU etc.... Please pMail me if you get any good leads or further info.

snipped --------- ...there is supposedly a switch between the AC compressor and the idle stabilizer valve to increase to bump up the idle with the AC is on, similar to the full-lock switch for the power steering?

By the way, Bentley shows no such switch for my '87. Does't show controls on the dash for the AC either. end snipped --------
