In the wars of the last 200 hundred years, what standard of measurement was used by the losers???

Its only a better alternative because you think so. In the end, it only matters if you are trying to land on Mars :-)

Near as I can tell, a mile is always 5280 feet, and an foot is always 12 inches. There are 4 qts in a gallon, and I fail to see anything inconsistent in that.

We built a hell of a standard based on inconsistent and lunatic measurements, didn't we?
