I have been using the Purolater Pure One PL3001 for a couple years and am
satisfied.  They are $4.99 at the local Bi-Mart.  This is the larger diesel
filter and required bending the aluminum cylinder shroud slightly for
clearance.  They have a larger filter element,  have a larger volume, cost
less, are easier to aquire,  and perform as well in preventing lifter noise
at startup as the Mahle filters.
