matthew, i did this to my 90 gl when replacing my engine 15,000 miles ago. i put inner to outer on opposite sides. when i pulled the cv's apart i had them power cleaned, i noticed slight wear where the balls were riding, but nothing major. so i repacked them(what a job that was!) and swapped sides and haven't had a problem. the mechanics i inquired with about this job, suggested that i did swap them opposite sides and inny to outty. they said that would allow the balls to ride on a new surface thus significantly extending the life of the cv's. i am sure this goes with out saying but, i would replace any boots that look worn as this is what keeps the dirt out that causes wear on the joints. good luck! jason 90gl
