Mark, Now that I've corrected myself, you don't have it right either.

Swapping end-for-end is the only thing that reverses the direction of rotation of the axles. Swapping side-for-side is optional, as it does not change rotation.

Do the "roll up the paper" demonstration for yourself and you'll see.
