Unless, unfortunately you are in BC where the people in the lane closest to the yellow lines have right of way over people in the out lanes. The traffic signs say "Slower Traffic Keep Right" where the rest of Canada and I am sure most of the USA it says "Keep Right Except to Pass". This means for all the red necks here "I ain't slow" so they stick to the fast lane. Plus, you are, shall we call it 'more right' if you get into an accident in the 'fast' lane as opposed to the slow lane according to the laws here. It is written here in the beginners driver book to always give way to people merging by going into the 'fast' lane. Also when the passing lane comes to an end, the people in the 'fast' lane have the right of way.... so, everyone drives in the 'fast' lane.... stupid I know! Time for my $0.02US. There are a large number of distractions that can lead to poor driving. The problem isn't the distractions, it's the poor driving. It's not my road or your road, it's our road. Share, get along, follow the rules and we all get wherever we're going quickly and safely. My big beef is people _driving_ in the _passing_ lane ... it's for passing. Once you're done passing, go back to a driving lane. Thanks. Helga '87 Westy |
