Yep, I agree Karl---- Its the damn wind blowing across the ribs of the cheap rubber around--- Kinda like a piece of waxpaper and a comb-----blow on it and it will vibrate--- Same theory---

On a recent trip I had a noise that I have had a few times now - always when driving in significantly high wind - seems like it depends on the angle of wind to the van. Comes on suddenly and is a very loud drumming - sound like is coming from the grill area. I'm assuming it is something loos that begins to vibrate when buffeted by wind at a given velocity and direction. Very loud and annoying. I haven't started to investigate. Anyone experienced this? Any experience or theories? Alan Pickersgill '85 Transporter converted to Westfalia Ottawa ON Canada |
