Subject: Oil pressure sender & VDO gauge upgrade,
anyone of you guy did the conversion?

I am still (and some other member here) trying to add a VDO Oil gauge and electromechanic sender for my 87GL, many questions to all the dealers but none of the answers are the same.

So here are my questions: (See my page for picture of all available gauge and sender at: http://pages.infinit.net/engine/vdo.htm)

1)-Do any of you volks added a electromechanic sender (W/Gauge of course)?

2)-If yes, to which sender location did you put the new sender, the .3 BAR between the 2 cylinders or the .9 near the water pump?

3)-From which dealer did you buy the parts and at which prices?

4)- If a modification is to be made to the sender, can you explain the modification?

One question remains! Which sender to replace, the .3 or the .9 BAR, the high pressure test is usually taken at the .9 BAR location, but my question remains, does the new electronic sender will fit the .9 tight location!!!! Do you know what I mean, the high pressure (.9BAR near water pump pulley) sender is already a tight fit, the new electromechanic one is bigger!!! From Bus Depot experience, it's not a direct fit, an adaptor need to be built!!!!

But i think it's a direct fit to the one between the 2 left cylinder (.3BAR), but! Will we get the full pressure over there? Is the maximum pressure reach at both locations?????????? In other words, if the new sender is put at either location, will the reading be the same on the gauge????????

Any comment?
