Yes the rebuilt starters that we sell are Bosch and come completely assembled with the solenoid. This is the nicer way to go in my opinion. I would rather have the whole thing rebuilt than to put a new solenoid on an old starter with worn brushes, etc. These are $135 with a $60 core charge. They have a one year warranty and two years free towing if you have a problem that is starter related. You might also want to check your battery for charge and your grounding straps for connection and zero resistance. Also be sure that the terminals on your battery are clean and tight.

Hope this helps, Ken Wilford John 3:16 http://www.vanagain.com Phone: (856)-327-4936 Fax: (856)-327-2242

Alistair, I have yet to replace the starter but I thought in these times you get the solenoid with the starter. Has anyone bought a starter from ron or ken and do they ship the solenoid with the starter or is that extra? thanks gary

Well, with 50 miles to go to break the 200K mark, my van's starter solenoid quit without warning.

Got into the van to take my son for some swimming lessons and got the dreaded "click of death". Push start etc. Last evening I wrestled the starter from the van (BTW starter spins ok as tested by bridging the two large terminals on the solenoid).

Now I have the dubious pleasure of discovering whether these solenoids are stocked in any of the local parts places.

I replaced the starter soon after I purchased the van back in '93 when the van had about 90K miles on it. Once every 100k miles or so ain't too bad.

Alistair
