My buddy and I rented a 62 Chevy from the base pool at Sigonella in Sicily and headed west to the Targa Florio road race (I believe it was in '65). We got there a day ahead of the race and, as we neared our destination, we traveled on the road where the race was to be held. Going around the side of a mountain with solid rock on our left and nothing but fresh air on our right, we encountered a Sicilian wedding procession of about 20 cars going the opposite direction. ... And screaming around them on the blind curve was none other than Jo Jo Bonnier in his Porsche. To this day, I have NO idea how we made it three abreast on that narrow road without colliding with another car or going off the cliff! Glad I wasn't driving.

Another time, I was hitch hiking and was picked up by a family of Sicilians in their "sei cento" (Fiat 600). After about the third time he passed another car on a blind curve, I asked him what he would do if someone were coming the other way. He said he'd just "move over." Sounded so easy...
