Probably true. But the market for people looking for these non-VW-powered ones is much smaller.

The average owner (probably not doing their own maintenance, probably not a member of this list) wants what's easiest to have maintained by their regular mechanic, or the local VW shop. They're likely to shy away from this type of van because most mechanics won't touch it.

Yes, Subu power is better all-around, but to the average buyer, looking for ease of maintenance (not a DIY'er), it is a black mark in his/her book.

But to that experienced DIY'er who has no fear of any type of engine, you can probably sell it to him at a premium ($$).
