I see Aaron told you about taking the side mirror off and tightening the
nut.  Just be careful not to over tighten, as some have complained about
cracking the assembly.  I have the same problem on my passenger side mirror
but am afraid to tighten further.  I just avoid high speeds and headwinds!

I just bought an 86 GL camper a few weeks ago and when I hit around 65 mph
(yes, top speed downhill) or drive into a headwind the side mirrors fold in,
on both the drivers and the passengers side.
