In a marine situation its not a good idea to use aluminium rivets in a stainless steel object (but ok to use stainless steel rivets/bolts etc in an Al object...relatives sizes and all). If an electrolyte is present, the Aluminium rivet will corrode as the anode.

Use stainless rivets or nuts and bolts
