Hello to all soldering/brazing experts. I am trying to add an AC unit into my 1982 diesel Westy by using the roof mount evaporator unit out of a 1985 van. The unit sits right behind my head (when I relax in the seat and imagine that I am actually driving), but with no modification will stick into the pop top hole. I was going to disassemble (OK, I have already disassembled) the ducting and make the unit a bit "smaller". In order to do this I need to change where the hoses come into the evaporator. There appears to be some sort of plastic coating over the copper, and it appears that coating would remove easily. I am curious as to what I should be looking for in terms of solder to properly reattach the ends once I have them where I want them. What is proper AC type solder? Myron Lind 82 Westy getting mechanical TDI 81 Westy that still runs great PS I have torch and am experienced at brazing thin walled steel bicycle frames. |
