Hello from the Sierra Nevada Mts. We are brand new to this list so please excuse us if we ask some silly questions. We have had our 87 vanagon for 3 days. It only has 55,000 original engine miles. It has been sitting around for years. The body and interior look brand new. So needless to say I am very excited about finally getting one. Here are a few of my questions: The A/C doesn't work. Someone suggested we change the "O" rings and recharge it. Can anyone tell me how much a repair like this should cost? I am in No. California. Also, My side view mirrors are loose. They blow in when I get on the highway. Is there a way to tighten them or do they have to be replaced? I looked in the Bentley book but no luck. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Grass Valley/Nevada City, CA area? We are located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, about 1 hour from Sacramento. Thanks, Melissa and sometimes Jerome |
