Subject: '84 GL for sale in Connecticut (Not Mine!)
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed
I got the following from Mark Roser, who is not currently on the list. He
needs to sell his '84 GL. They live in Central Connecticut, and have a new
baby so travelling to deliver it is not practical.
Here's the specs. Contact him - NOT ME - at

1984 Vanagon GL
2 Tone Blue Exterior, Blue Tweed Interior
195,000 Miles 4 speed Manual
18,000 on a Boston Bob's rebuilt engine (Full engine swap)
I really want the van to go to someone who will keep it and appreciate it.
We inherited the van from a friend's dad (the original owner) after he
passed away about four years ago and did the engine.
The van runs very good and has been super reliable for us.
Here are the current to-do's for the van:
The O2 sensor light is on, sensor needs to be replaced or a loose wire?
The rear exhaust manifold has a cracked weld where it meets the muffler pipe
and needs to be replaced
The sliding door has some slight body ripples and paint scratches and could
be repaired but isn't too bad
One wheel cover is missing
The passenger side mirror is droopy
The radio and antenna needs to be replaced
The ash tray is cracked
That's all that I can think of.
The car uses about 1 quart of oil between changes but runs very smoothly and
strongly - Bob did a great job
The transmission and brakes are all very smooth. The van does not have AC.
Tires are all season BF Goodrich with about 8-10 / 32nd's remaining and some
mild dry cracking started. Can keep using, but need updating within a year
depending upon use.
It has been maintained by a local mechanic in Willimantic, CT. He is
familiar with the van and would be happy to provide a reference. He has
done the tuning, gas tank, muffler, and some of the ignition parts (to solve
a rough idle).
I can send pictures if necessary but don't have them ready now.
I have invested about $3,700k for the engine and and $2k in miscellaneous
stuff over the past 4 years. Hoping to get $1,600 +, but will take the best
offer to a good home.
