I have 6.5" speakers in roughly the same place (upper doors) as the original tiny ones. Needed to cut the door cover to size but I don't believe I cut any metal. You also need to either bend the window crank handles slightly to clear the speaker grill or get one of those crank riser pieces. (I've bent the handles successfully on two vans so far.) The speaker grill will likely contact the side of the dash, but it seems to do no harm. If you don't like that you can put a small piece of vinyl sheet on the dash end. Bass is much improved (sounds great at low speeds), but if you want to really feel the bass at cruising speeds, you need a subwoofer somewhere.
