I just replaced mine on my 1980 Westy. I believe it was a M10 Fine Thread Bolt. I found that a 1.5" bolt worked well with an large heavy washer and a locking washer. \/\/i!!y 1980 Westy "Jazzy" PS: Mine worked loose on the trans-Canada and dropped the spare tire pan onto the tarmac at 100km/hr. Worst sound I've ever heard.
