I'll be replacing a muffler and tailpipe this weekend on the '82 Westy. Picked up the parts, but as is usual with me, I realzie what I DON'T know only after I've left the parts shop. The muffler and pipe are by ANSA. I picked up the gasket that goes between muffler and pipe but, and here's the first question: 1. Does anyone know what size and thread are the bolts that hold the two parts together? I also picked up a new clamp for the catalytic-muffler connection, and here's the second question: 2. Is there a gasket that belongs at this joint, or is it just pipe to pipe? And, since this list is so helpful, any other hints and tips for exhaust repair?d James M. Piotrowski |
