As for the armor all or STP son of a gun, it doesn't streak. Use it
sparingly, just a wipe or two across the blade, not a super soaking.

GM----
Cleaning the blades with alcohol makes good sense----
I don't know about wiping them down with the Armor All--this stuff has
silcone in it, and may smear the heck out of the glass---
Have a brand new PPG windsheild---
Got gobs of Rain-X on it, which seems to be my only salvation----
I also have Rain-X additive to the washer solvent----so it helps
maintain the Rain-X coating on the glass---
The rotating of the blades seems like a good idea---
The damn wiper blades sure don't seem to last as long as they used to--

Depending on the climate and the amount of usage, 6 months is about what
I'd expect to get out of wipers. Mine rarely last 12 here in NC (either
on our Vanagon, or our Jetta).
Some helpful things though...
1. If your windshield is old and pitted (from sand on the
highway) replace it. It was less than $200 to have ours swapped, and WOW
what a difference in visibility, wet and dry.
2. Use Rain-X EVERY time you wash the van or at least every
couple weeks.
3. When you wash your van, clean your wiper blades with rubbing
alcohol, then wipe them down with Armor All or a similar nurturing
spray.
4. Reverse your blades at the 3 month mark; make the outer
sweeping edge the inner sweeping edge... The outer covers roughly 3
times the distance and wears faster.

Hey all you gurus of H2O removal---
I have had to replace all my wiper blades on a six month plan--they
start streaking and hopping on the glass almost to the day--six months
after I install them---
I am using Bosch Micro edge replacements and they are really short lived
and crap----
Anyone have a better blade, that will endure the elements for a longer
period?
Wiped Out---
