I did this yesterday along with all of the fuel lines in the engine compartment, injector seals, plugw, wires, cap and rotor, adjust idle switch and replace air filter. (still failed seattle emissions with high hydrocarbons) 02 sensor and maybe cat converter next, any suggestions anyone? Anyway....

I replaced the temp II sensor from above. A little rectangular, open at one end, wire clip holds the sensor in. I was able to remove this with a small flat tip screwdriver. Do this with the engine cold by the way. Don't want any pressure in the cooling system. Have your new sender ready with the o ring on it. With the new sensor in some of my left fingers I was able to grip the old one with my remaining left fingertips, pull it out, let it go and push in the new sensor in one smooth (yeah right!) motion. I kinda practiced how I was going to manipulate the new sender into the hole before actually pulling the old one. I don't think I lost any more than a couple tablespoons of coolant. I did not remove and reattach the wiring plug until after making the switch. Don't forget to put the locking clip back in!
