What would I do without you? Thanks to all of you who responded to my questions about my starter. It was the starter! You guys saved me lots of money. I tried to whack it, then jump the starter, but still nothing, so I just roll started it and got it home. No tow fee. I would especially like to thank Joel Walker who took the time to type out the whole starter removal/replacement procedure for me, right down to disconnecting the battery so I didn't fry myself.

I checked the Bug Out in Manassas for a starter, but no luck, just found Bug starters, so first thing today when the junkyards and shops opened, I started calling. I found a starter rebuilder in Manassas who charged me 86.00 to rebuild my starter, which seems a good price, considering that I called another place, who wanted 180.00 to do the same thing. Bus Depot charges 129.00 for a rebuilt which is a good price from what I've seen around here. I found a factory rebuilt for 175.00. The best thing about Artie's, the rebuilder is that the turn around was around 2 hours.

So, now thanks to the list and to all of the encouragement I received here, my vanagon lives again!

Thanks again, Karen
