Subject: 87 Synchro: extra battery and books

Hi!

I'm new to this whole Vanagon life, but I've come into possession of an '87 Synchro, which I'll be driving to Oregon this weekend. I have a few questions which I hope y'all would answer.

I'd like to hook the fridge up to a separate 12-volt. Is there any particular recommended brand or a 12-volt specific to 87 Synchros? I think I know the answer to this, but I'd rather not blow it.

Second, a number of people have recommended "How to Keep Your VW Alive" by John Muir, as a good guidebook for how-to's. I was wondering if it covers up through 87s, though. Or if y'all could recommend any others specific to the Synchro Experience. :)

Thanks in advance, CMonster
