It is called a silver socket. It has 12v on the center pin. You can buy BMW, VW and Braun overpriced accessories that plug into it. On BMW motorcycles they are used for a little drop light and a few other giz-mos to plug into. It is a totally useless accessory plug. I pulled to wire off mine to power my Radio since it has power 24/7. Just one thing to remember .......... forget about it.
