Chris,

You can take em out without removing the alternator to see how bad they are. I recently replaced mine but about 2 months later the lights came back on. Turns out my alternator was messed up inside and wearing out the bushings very fast, so i replaced the entire thing - no problems since.

good luck --- 80 Westy Pokey <pokey@VANAGON.ORG> wrote: > My brake light keeps coming on at low revs... and I > am > thinking the alternator brushes may be worn. > > What is the procedure ton replace these? Am I > nlooking at > buying a new alternator? > > Thanks, > Chris
