I paid $700 for one side in 1990.  The price isn't out of line.
HOWEVER!!!! I had to re-do in myself two months later.  If your wrench
doesn't commonly work on wasserboxers, make sure you get an ironclad
warranty.  Make sure that he understands that you will accept nothing
less than no bubbles in the coolant. Otherwise, you too will learn the
fine art of *properly* resealing a wasserboxer.
