Subject: TD Fuel Pump rebuild/Replace Question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Howdy all--

My other car (not the Vanagon [required content]) my 1985 Jetta TD's fuel pump needs immediate replacement/rebuild (240K miles).

There is a steady leak between the distribution block and the main body of the pump which has been getting progressively worse. Now it won't run above idle, and it appears the fuel that SHOULD be going to the injectors is coming out of that leak. No longer an arbitrary drip, more of a trickle, almost a stream.

Who is my best bet, and what should I expect to pay? Anyone to avoid?

Is this swap a PITA, or can it be accomplished with average tools/average skills in the driveway?
