Subject: Re: Oil Capacity, Tiico Conversion
Content-Type: text/plain

Matthew,

Are those capacities assuming an oil filter has been replaced?

BTW, my tiico conversion is up and running. I really like the way it turned out: not very noisy at all and no strange vibrations to mention. I have a few things to work out still like cruise, and a muffler that is not parallel to the ground. Too soon to tell how things really are but so far so good.

Derek, what does the installtion manual say? it says 4.5L API oil. That is about 4.73 quarts. DO NOT TRUST THE HASH MARKS ON THE DIPSTICK. btdt! If i just put in oil till the hash marks are 'wet' i'd have about 1.75 quarts of oil in my rig.... From Peter B (and Kyle from Volkscafe): Add 4 quarts, cycle the oil (as in run the engine). Then mark that as your low point on the stick. Now add another quart & again cycle the oil. Now mark that as your high point. In the ideal world that would be the top and bottom of the dipstick, but in my case (and a few others) it ain't the case.
