Tensions have eased somewhat here in the "United Federation of Vanagon Owners." The recent outbreaks of violence, which left a state of near pandemonium at the "Alan Adda Research Center for Arthritic Hippies" has seemingly subsided in recent weeks. The presence of an international peace keeping force has been attributed for the alleged stability. Yet considering the force is primarily made up of American and British troops, it is likely that they are doing very little to maintain the peace. Military spokespersons suggest more effort is being placed on keeping the military personnel from writing nasty notes to each other on the walls of the "por-ta-johns."

This apparent cease-fire has done precious little to quash small pockets of radical nationalism however. Political debates continue to rage at the Ministry of the Vanagon Assembly for the Promotion of My Opinions and Prevention of Yours. Specifically, the issue of recent defections by U.F.V.O citizens has brought lawmakers to a near standstill. Many have demanded a new census be taken to ascertain the damage. Others have claimed it is of no consequence. It is suggested by some that the recent topic of conversation regarding U.F.V.O. defections was somewhat unnecessary and only served to re-ignite old flames of controversy.

Yet all in all, the situation is stable and life goes on here in…wait, hold on a minute. This just in! A new topic has been started in the streets of the city. I can barely make it out, stand by… Okay, it’s becoming clear now. It reads, “Air cooled Vanagons rule, and Wasserboxers are total pieces of cra….”
