Well, well, well! Time to vent about the PO again! You guys may remember the ignition switch "Rig" I told you about on my 86 Vanagon... Anyway, I was driving witht he A/C blasting when I suddenly began to smell that dreaded electrical burning stench! I turned off the A/C and drove home to check things out. When I pulled off the side cover I noticed that a fuse and wiring was burned and had nearly caught the side panel on fire! It was burned! The PO obviously did some custome work here. There are four wires, two connected to one 30 amp fuse and the other to another fuse. All wires were crip on female connectors just plugged into the fuse and wrapped with tape. Nice, huh? Can anyone tell me what the fool did here? What did he cut and replace? OR, did he just feel like inserting fuses? I went to my local parts house and bought two inline 30 amp fuse holders and spliced them in. Now, everything is working fine. I wonder what other rigged stuff is on my van??!!?? Dave |
