Symptom: Turn A/C on and inside blower runs but just a click from a relay on rear wall and no compressor or front condenser fan. History: system is stock R-12. A/C has worked fine last 3 yrs. seems to want a recharge every 3 yrs. Late last summer, went in for a recharge and noticed the work was done without evacuation containment equipment, just a guy with gauges and a can of freon. He seemed confident with his work but I have seen this work done with the evacuation equipment that allows refrigerant charge to be removed, vacuum on system to check for leaks then recharge with proper amount of oil and refrigerant. I always carry the Bentley to the A/C guy since the system holds more than what most are accustomed to and this helps convince the tech to pump in the 5 lbs. or so. The van was finished, buttoned up and I was on my way. 3 days of good A/C and the system quite working. Now I just get this click from rear electrical wall when engaging the A/C, inside blower works but no compressor or A/C condenser fan up front. Question: What's wrong here? Overcharge? Can I jump around the high/low pressure cutoff to check system operation? Any thoughts?
