Subject: Alloy rim question
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hey Folks,

Simple questions here. Besides aesthetics (and perhaps weight), are there any advantages to stock alloy VW rims over steel ones?

I have an opportunity to buy 4 at a terrific price (I'm embarrassed to say how much). A friends 1988 Wolfsburg was totaled, and he's held onto them for years. When I told him I had bought my 1986 Westy, he offered them up to me.

I have original steel rims, and cute silver metal hub caps, with stock 185/R14 tires on my Westy now.

Part of me likes the wheels I have now, and part of me has *always* wanted these alloy rims (doh, where was he when I had my 1991 GL?!).

Anyhow can I assume they will fit my 1986, and that my current tires will fit on them?

Any pros or cons to Alloy's, over my perfectly good steel rims?

Just curious,

Thanks,

dave bowers vancouver, wa 1986 Westy
