Fellow German Auto Enthusiast, “The writing is on the wall…” This list server is infected, but not with a biological or digital parasite, but with a self-induced social decay.  I can only assume the most important, potential implications of this ailment have somehow been overlooked whereas it continues unabated. The recent frequency of these disagreeable threads is alarming to say the least.  They are symptoms which, left unattended, threaten to send this list into a premature extinction.  However, the treatment is quite simple…an implementation of the simple virtues of self-restraint.  I find it hard to believe that any subject pertaining to Vanagons could possibly induce the primal “evolutionary leftover” emotions necessary for verbal combat.  So, again I urge restraint. I address this situation not because I am in any way superior in wisdom or experience than any other list member.  On the contrary, I am your average, everyday fool…blundering along at 100 km/h with my eyes shut in the social wave that is our modern society.  My reasons are far less complex, I need this list and enjoy the camaraderie.  I am quickly approaching the final stage of my Vanagon refit, the dreaded power plant.  Yes, my mechanical skills with internal combustion are better than average, but my prowess with the air-cooled variety is, shall we say, “feeble” to be kind.

So in closing I plead again for restraint.  Consider this if nothing else.  Imagine the immense presence and power of a simple star, now place our planet along with its fortuitous life beside it.  If that fails to belittle anything and everything humankind in general bickers about, I suggest a review of the previously mentioned existential picture. Apologies for the length. John T. What? ;)
