I would like to see the list get smaller.

Why don't we start by eliminating words that are meant to hurt? Think twice about sending a 'Funny' post, or trying to have the last word. Don't post a reply if you aren't pretty sure you have something useful to say. Stop quoting a complete posting, or worse yet a whole thread when you are replying to someone.

If you have doubts about how people will react to something you have written, sit on it overnight. We'll still be here the next day, and a lot of angry or witty notes sound pretty lame when re-read the next day, so you'll be glad you didn't send it.

If your 'dry sense of humor' gets a negative reaction from a lot of people, it's not because they are wrong, it's because you aren't communicating what you think you are, so stop trying to be humorous.

This is a friendly group. You don't have to have to impress people with your verbal karate, or the number of your posts. If you don't have something useful to say, (and a polite disagreement can be useful), don't say it.

If we all kept these ideas in mind while writing to the list, we wouldn't have to worry about getting rid of people. The list would be smaller, and I think, much better. And we can stop having to wade through bumf like this!
